What The Bible Says

The Word of God

Deut. 8:3
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

Every Scripture is God Breathed
2Ti 3:16-17
(16) Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action),
(17) So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The Word of God equips the man of God for every good work.
2Ti 3:16-17

The Word of God judges the thoughts and intentions of our heart.
Heb 4:12-13
(12) For the word of God is living and effectual, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (13) And there is no creature hidden before Him, but all things are naked and open to His eyes, to whom we must give an account.

Man needs more that physical food.
Mat 4:4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.' "

The Word of God will not pass away.
Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

The Word is to be preached.
2Ti 4:2-3
(2) Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
(3) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

The Word of the Lord saves.
1Pe 1:23-25
(23) You have been regenerated (born again), not from a mortal origin (seed, sperm), but from one that is immortal by the ever living and lasting Word of God.
(24) For all flesh (mankind) is like grass, and all its glory (honor) like [the] flower of grass. The grass withers and the flower drops off,
(25) But the Word of the Lord (divine instruction, the Gospel) endures forever. And this Word is the good news which was preached to you. [Isa. 40:6-9.]

The Word of the Lord heals.
Psa 107:20 He sends forth His word and heals them and rescues them from the pit and destruction. [II Kings 20:4, 5; Matt. 8:8.]

The Lord send His Word for a specific purpose.
Isa 55:10-11
(10) For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, [II Cor. 9:10.]
(11) So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

The Word of the Lord restores the whole person.
Psa 19:7-11
(7) The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
(8) The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes.
(9) The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
(10) More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb.
(11) Moreover, by them is Your servant warned (reminded, illuminated, and instructed); and in keeping them there is great reward.

The Word keeps us from sin.
Psa 119:11
I treasure your word above all else; it keeps me from sinning against you.

Every Word of God is true!
Psa 119:160
The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.

Pro 30:5-6
(5) Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
(6) Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.

4) So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
