The Reality of God's Provision

Consider the Lilies

Matt. 6:29
Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed as one of these.

We Cannot Serve Two Masters

Matthew 6:24-34 (KJV) 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.

Our Life is More Than Food and Clothing

24) Ye cannot serve God and mammon . 25) Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

We Can Learn From the Birds

26) Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Our Worring Will Not Help

27) Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature ? 28) And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin : 29) And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

All of Nature is Clothed by God

30) Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31) Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

Seek First the Kingdom of God

32) (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things . 33) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Because God is Our Provider, Do Not Worry!

34) Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof

Every Flower is a Promise

The lesson is this - consider each flower for it is a promise of God's provision. A lily is created by God and simply depends upon God. It neither toils nor spins, yet it is clothed with the beauty that God provides. The beauty of the lily speaks to each of us. Lord help us to take You at Your Word and allow the lily to teach us of Your tender and loving care!

Scripture

Isa 55:1-3 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2) Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. 3) Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

Isa 55:9-11 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10) For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11) So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
